Privacy and cookies
This page explains what information this website collects and why. This website is run by Sumo Digital Media, who is the data controller. If you have a question, please contact us.
Information we collect
Visitors: you don’t need an account to use this site. If you send an enquiry to a cabin owner, the details you type (name, email, phone, dates and message) are emailed straight to that owner so they can reply; we do not keep a copy. The owner then holds your details under their own privacy policy.
Cabin owners: if you list a cabin we keep your name, email, phone number, listing details and photos to run your listing, and simple counts of views, clicks and enquiries. Payments are handled by Stripe (Stripe privacy policy); we never see your card details. We keep your account while you have a listing and delete unfinished sign-ups after 7 days. Our lawful basis is the contract with you.
We use a free postcode service (postcodes.io) to place listings on the map; only the cabin’s postcode is sent. Our web host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security, which are deleted after a short period.
When you click a link to a holiday provider, we count that click anonymously so we know which cabins are popular. We do not record who clicked.
Cookies
This site does not set advertising or analytics cookies of its own. When you click through to a holiday provider, the Awin affiliate network and the provider may set cookies on their own websites so that your booking can be credited to us. Those cookies are covered by their privacy policies: Awin privacy policy.
Cabin photos
Photos of cabins are loaded directly from our holiday providers’ image servers (Cottages.com and Hoseasons). When a page shows those photos, the providers’ servers receive your IP address and browser details, as with any image on the web.
Maps
Maps only load when you choose to show them. When they do, map tiles are requested from OpenStreetMap, which will see your IP address in order to send the map images.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you and to ask us to delete it. Unless you are a cabin owner, we will usually hold nothing beyond short-lived server logs, but please get in touch if you have any questions. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
